low E string picking up harmonics

Hi,

When I play some notes on my higher strings, then my other strings (mainly the low E) picks up the harmonic vibrations, and starts humming. Louder and louder, until I mute it. I tried palm muting only that string without touching the rest, but I find it rather difficult. Is this the way to do it or are there other techniques?

Might be that the pickup needs to be tapered.. lower the 6th string side in increments till it lessens or stops. Proper screwdriver for the head and unscrew the 6th string side maybe half a turn at a time till it visually goes down a tad.

Also are you in a High Gain input? if so try the Low gain input that alone should knock the signal down several Db Thus controlling the signal and less feedback.

Also position yourself with the guitar off to the side or further out from the amp. Lower your volume, to the breakout point. may be around 4-5 you can hear it and keep it at just the higher side till you need more volume during your play.

Also learn your AMP and settings. Let the amp do the work for you. Start by mid adjustments for your EQ settings and learn to use the GAIN/PRE with the Master volumes if you have these.
In general amps are made to open up quite a bit to get the actual tone they were designed to produce. Many issues happen with bedroom volumes lack of space throwing the dynamics of the signal off.. hench driving this or that to (Pretend) your getting the signal at higher levels..

If you have any pedals in the front OD/Distortion tame the gain on them too.

Cheers!
The Last thing would be to adjust the coils but this should be done ONLY by a qualified guitar tech. Wrong adjustment can throw your pup way out or ruin it.
