Welcome to the Forums, I be a ways from you.. I across the pond in the Mid-West, Don't know how much any can teach you, but here goes.. It is all in your attitude and desire to play. Learn to play correctly as possible, as old habits can be hard to break. It is all in the TONE. You have to hear and feel what you are expressing through the guitar. Many methods to learning. Some do Books, some prefer paying for lessons that are structured, ( may take longer but in the end you can learn to read and play it) giving you a proper foundation. Other methods are by ear but this don't work unless, again you have to have the tone and the ability to play the tone in several areas of the neck finding the actual chord/lead that the artist is using. There are Tabs, there are Books, DVD lessons with books and then there is youtube too. Try to get you a sort of Drum beat to keep in time with. if you play for years then try a band, you will find your timing may not be in sync. Be sure you have good gear packs of string CLEAN hands to reduce acids when playing, thus breaking down the string life and have your guitar properly setup to reduce fatigue and inaccuracy in the tone.. BE sure to let the amp do the work for you, try to find a proper volume level to play at. Don't try to push to much gain, thus trashing the original tone. Tone tone tone.. that is what playing is about. Last off what style of music are you playing. Feel free to post forums and research etc.. Cheers! |
