***SOLD*** Since I haven't used this in over a year, I've recently decided to sell my Crate V5 amp . I have had lots of fun with this amp - it certainly cranks out a chunky volume with lovely tones for such a small cabinet and has amazing drive for its 5 Watts RMS output. I reckon this is because it is a Class A all tube design, with 1 x 12AX7 valve preamp stage and 1 x EL84 valve power circuit. It is fitted with a Jensen Special Design 10" speaker - a modification that I made myself. And what a dramatic difference the new speaker makes... it allows the amp to breathe more effectively and releases much more immediate and musical tones. Another good point about this amp is the cabinet. Not only is it extremely good looking, but it is well engineered and produced, possessing a quality feel hard to find at any price point, never mind at this budget. I would include a few extra tubes - since I was experimenting with different valves for that optimum sound... and I would also include the original speaker. I'll start the haggling at £90 posted!! (Postage won't be cheap 'cos it's nearly 10kg unwrapped). That is an exceptional bargain considering that the amp itself originally cost over £100, while the Jensen speaker cost me over £50. It really is a very pretty amp with quality fixings and chunky leather carry handle.
