Hi together, I'm really getting frustrated with my problem. I searched the whole Internet, asked Seymour Duncan and tried everything... I just want to put a SD SH-4 JB in the bridge position of my Squier Deluxe Hot Rails Strat. But it is very noisy. The "hum" becomes louder in distortion mode but still exists in clean mode. It's not really a ground problem, I think. I checked this several times. I've already put an Invader SH-8 in another strat and it works perfect. So my first idea was, that the PU is defect. But I exchanged it for 3 times now and there's the same problem again and again! Now the interesting thing!!! When I turn around my guitar, then there is exactly one position, in which all the noise dissapears except the wanted sound of the strings. It makes no difference to where in my room I put the PU, but in which direction?!? I thought, that there must be something around my house. But I tried the PU in 2 different practicerooms, switched of everythin exceot the amp and the phenomenon was the same. I don't know, what to do anymore. I tried 3 JBs and they all have the same problem?!? There must be somethin I'm doing wrong. But I did everything like mentioned in the diagrams. My Invader also works. The problem is similar to this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YElhE8yggEE There he shows, how he moves around and suddenly the noise vanishes?!? I hope you can help me, thank you very much! Radio/electrical interference. It can occur from almost any electronic device. Phones, Monitors, radios, computers etc... |

Thanks roast. I thought to that, too. But I can't imagine, that this PU is so prone to that. I've never had any problems with the SH8. That would mean, that I can never play the guitar with the SH4 on any stage cause there will always be electronical devices... By the way. I wraped the PU with aluminium foil but that changed nothing??? I'm speechless! 3 different SH4s and they all have the same problem and work perfekt in exactly one position. The place is immaterial. The SH8 has never made any problems... I posted a video of my problem on youtube now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewPwKAMODgc Edited by terribleboy, Jun 28 2011, 01:31 PM.

perhaps the probem is with the wiring or the grounding for the guitar itself. your pickups selector switch might be bad as well. your best bet is to take it inot a shop and have a tech look into it. |
| and now for something completely different | |

9 times out of 10, its not due to the pickups, its down to the other electronic components. as Monwobobbo said, its probably due to bad earthing, worn insulation on the wiring, or a faulty switch/jack. |

May also not even be that pickup doing it.. could be another pup bringing in the noise but the SH may be pricking it up through the rest of the wiring. Try different shielded cables too. Be sure you power outlets are not noisy to or this will prove a daunting task. That is one main reason I don't like fenders. You buy one and you have to near gut it and rework the electronics to make it gig-able. (Many never have these issues) Wish you luck.. |

Another thing is that is a HIGH HIGH GAIN pup, I thing you also need to check the POTS and Capacitors what OHM you have in there. whats the Invaders specs at and are they designed to work with you wiring without special mods? The guy may have pro installed it but it may be he overlooked telling you that this may give you issues. Also Lower that pickup down, as you seem to have way more coming through where it is. In short I thing it is a 500k Pot required for this pickup. if you have 250k Pots in your strat that is probably the issue and a place to start. Cheers |
