Hi pals.
I bought an Electric Guitar about 10 months ago.
I had a teacher for 3 or 4 months then I decided to learn Electric myself...
But I'm not all just a loser.
I start to play songs by different bands , I play some of em good , but at the end of the day I'm not satisfied... I really don't know what to do.
I want to be good at Electric Guitar til the next 8 months...
But ... I'm really confused .... I don't know what to do and how to start.
I've got many different DVDs from www.Licklibrary.com
I have downloaded Many Guitar Pro Tabs for different songs...
With all these I think I'm not learning.
Do you know what to do ? any good online lessons ? or any advice ?

It shouldn't be forced. I started by just playing songs I liked as a hobby and then striving to play them better and better until they were perfect and by doing that, I improved my playing a lot. I don't ever remember feeling frustrated about it, just chill, it will come naturally.

hi gonna have to say the same thing i did at UG, don't expect to be good after a few months. learning songs without really knowing what you are playing won't help. it takes way more than a few months to be good so be prepared to put in some time and to suck for a while.
and now for something completely different

I was playing guitar for at least a year and a half when it all finally "clicked" with me. I was useless up until then, but I gave it my best shot and persevered. And at the end of the day, if you enjoy what you do, it doesn't matter how well you can do it!

I personally never used books, but if you feel they will benefit you, then go for it. :)

It will. Learning how different pro guitarists play will give you an insight into all the different styles. Once you've tried them, you can develop your own playing style, which could be a mish-mash of all of them. :)

it won't if you don't know what you are doing and why. learning songs certainly gives you alot of insight and we all do it. the problem is that we often don't know the scales used or perhaps even the basic theory behind the chord progression or notes used in a solo. this is a point that i tend to disagree on with many guitar teachers. often guys will teach you a song but don't give you any insight into why the guitarist chose to play what he did. it's very important to learn the scales etc that are used and understand how it all fits together at least reasonabl so. i'm no theory genius but know at least enough to stay in key and where to start scales in the key you re playing. this will make you into a good guitar player. i've come across alot of kids that can play songs pretty well but are clueless if asked to make up something of their own. usually it's either total crap or just reminds you of somebody elses song. as i've already mentioned being able to play guitar is a long road with no real shortcuts. being able to parrot a song doesn't make you a good player.
and now for something completely different
