Allo allo. I am a reasonably experienced guitarist, have been playing for about 10 years, have been in a couple of bands...recently i was asked to form a band with an old band mate, everything we have written seperately has meshed together really well and we have about 40 minutes of material the only thing is that we have found an amazing guitarist, way too good to let go, so ive decided to take on bass. The problem is that ive never played bass other than a quick noodle in rehearsals. Does anyone have any advice to share? how easy is it to pick up bass and play it properly what do i need to look for when buying a bass? i have no idea! |

Bass is very easy to pick up. Takes a few weeks to get some good coordination in your fingers. As for type of bass, what kind of sound is your band? |

bass can be easy but its role is different. learning to play withyour fingers will take time so i suggest using a pick to start with. sure you can just double the guitar lines and at times that is the right thing to do but tha bass can play counter melodies etc and should. the bass also keeps the groove so keep that in mind. i play bass on my own studio recordings but would hardly consider myself a bass player. (see my thread ANOTHER CHANCE TO HEAR ME PLAY) |
| and now for something completely different | |
