I have patience but I am wondering how long it roughly takes to learn to play the guitar at a comfortable level? Also is it possible to learn without lessons? (internet or books) Finally what is recommended as a beginner electric guitar? Thanks

It takes aboutanywhere from 6 months to 2 years to get really comfortable with a guitar, all depends on how much you play. It is possible to learn without lessons, although if you don't understand something or have a question it's hard to ask. As for a guitar, whats your budget and what kind of music do you like?

I don't really have a budget, I have around Ł300 but wouldn't take me long to save more. As for a style of music, I don't have one. I listen to queen mostly, but I listen to nearly all music apart from screamo death metal or whatever its called.
