So, I went back to the pawn shop I bought my Washburn from to take a look at amps when I saw an Ibanez RG470 for sale. It was £190, so I vowed to save for it. It was plain wood with binding on the body and gold hardware. When I had more than enough to buy it, I walk in and find this:![]() This is my new Ibanez RG370DX, which was selling for £195. I'm bloody impressed with this thing. It's practically new. No dents, scratches, fret wear or even any sign of tarnishing on the strings. When I bought it, there was still plastic coating on the tuners and pickups. Now, normally when buying a guitar from that place, one can only expect that it'll be minus a trem arm. Not this one though. The guy was nice enough to go find the arm and throw in a free case just because it was raining. All in all, it was worth getting wet for. |

Also, I forgot to mention that it's a 2004 model. |

Got a few questions about this one, though. Firstly, I've been trying to look up silver RG370DX's but I can't find them anywhere! I'm beginning to assume that I have a rare colour. I looked all over the internet and in a 2004 Ibanez product catalogue and all I found were black and white RGs. Second, it's noticeably heavier than my Strat and Washburn. Can I assume that this is because basswood/mahogany (I'm not sure which it is, I just read that RGs are either of those woods) is more dense than alder? The weight of it isn't really a problem as it plays well seated or standing, I'm just curious. Finally, it doesn't do pinch harmonics so well. All I know about it is that it's tuned to D standard (same as my Strat), but the strings feel alot more taut. The Washburn (dropped D) does pinches fine, as does the Strat. But the Ibanez doesn't seem to want to sustain them and they're always very quiet. I think the strings are a 10-52 set. Aside from that, I love the way it feels. I didn't like the sound of Wizard necks when I read about them, but having finally played one, I love it. I also love the maple neck. It's got many tiny knots in the wood which really look awesome along with the grain. I'm not sure if the headstock is maple or walnut as it's visibly darker than the neck, but not by much. The inlays are the coolest inlays I've ever seen. Always had a thing for the shark tooth inlays. It was one of the main selling points. And lastly, the colour. I love it. It reflects light so awesomely and it sparkles. So, so beautiful. Anyway, enough about my disturbing guitar love affair. Any answers would be greatly appreciated guys! |

It could have also been refinished, or it's a cheapo body/ fake body with an RG neck on it. |

could be a set up issue. if the pickups are to close to the strings they can dampen harmonics and sound like crap in general. just look for reviews to get more info on the guitar if its heavy than it may be mahogany and not lilely a fake. |

I doubt it's a fake. All of the hardware is Ibanez stock, and the serial number on the neck checks out with Ibanez standards. I've seen one silver RG before and that belonged to the late Dave Lepard (David Hellman). I'll play around with the pickup height and see what it does. They do seem pretty high out of the mounting rings. I've managed to get a good harmonic out of it with the tone dial at ten, but that's not the sound I like to use in my playing style. |

I could get a Gibson neck and hardware and put it on a chinese copy... does that make it a Gibson? It could also have been refinished. |

the finish could be a store exclusive so not found in the catalog. often guitar makers will do an exclusive finish to promote their guitars in a certain retail outlet. guitar Center here often has these. |
