Hey everyone, Ive recently decided to start learning to play the guitar. Ive never really learnt to play any instrument and would love to give it a go. I have been looking around a few sites at electric guitars and i want to spend around £200 for a starter kit. I have been shown two different guitar sets that are supposed to be quite good for begginner level. The first is the Ibanez GRG 170DX and the other is the Yamaha Paifica 012. Both are around £200 and come complete with amp and accessories etc. If somebody could please let me know which guitar is better that would be a great help as im not sure which to buy. Thankyou.

They're both good guitars! The Pacifica has more of a reputation as a beginner guitar and great value, but the Ibanez has good reviews too! Id say it's more dependant on what you want to play! It's a little irrelevant at the stage you're at to be honest, but the Ibanez will be a little more geared toward metal than the Pacifica! Hope that helps

Papa Roach metal? No. Try again good sir. As for guitars, I've heard some really good things about it. As for the Pacifica, I don't really like it as much. Then again you can go with SX, I've heard lots of good things about them. YOu basically buy directly from the manufacturer so it's a lot cheaper. I'd go with the SX SEG1 http://www.rondomusic.com/electricguitar-ss2.html Edited by mynameisDavid, Jan 10 2010, 10:30 PM.
