Hi dude

This looks pretty decent as a starter kit.

I can't see from the pictures of the amp - but normally these types of amp have 2 "channels" - the clean channel, and the overdrive or "gain" channel. There should be a switch to select between the channels. When using the overdrive channel, the amount of overdrive is usually controlled by the gain knob, while the overall volume might be controlled by a master volume knob. So set the volume first and then set the amount of gain to get the required amount of overdrive. It looks as though there is also a reverb on the amp as well, which adds a kind of echo effect to the sound.

You'll have to let us know what you think about the sound....

OK, try this...

Set the gain knob to fully clockwise.

Select the clean channel first and play a few notes.

Second, select the o/d channel and play the same riff.

Does it sound any different???

as far asw starter sets go your's is fairly decent. didn't the ampcome with instructons? as mentioned crank te gain and tht should get you distortion. keep in mind though that starter amps often don't have very good distortion so you won't sound like the really heavy metal out these days. invest in a distortioj pedal to help you out or better yet innvest in a better amp.
and now for something completely different

ok you have a common problem amoungst new guitar players. you have to understand that starter pack guitars and amps are just that and tend to be very low end in quality. alot of new heavy metal players use 7 string guitars that are tuned way down. your setup obviously can't do that so won't sound the same (you can tune your guitar down however) get yourself a distortion pedal that will help get you better distortion than your amp is capable of. keep in mind that pro guitar players use pro equipment. while you can get great sounds out of cheaper equipment you may not be able to duplicate the sounds of your favourite guitarist easily if it all.
and now for something completely different
