Hi everyone,

I'm new here! Just thought I would introduce myself!
I''ve just purchased my first ever Electric Guitar and I'm really excited but also really nervous about getting the hang of it and just wondered if anyone could give me any advice?
It would be much appreciated!!

Thankooooo!

Ello :)

it takes time and patience, buy some kind of guitar for beginners book, they're all much of a muchness to be honest, they have all the basic fundamental things you need to know about holding guitar, parts of the guitar, posture, strumming, open chords, which are the first you'll learn! That should keep you busy for a few months at least :)

Any other questions ask away :D

Greetings

Welcome to EGF, totty. (at least i presume it's totty-uk and not tott-yuk LOL)

What kind of guitar and amp did you buy?

It has been just over a year since I bought my first guitar, so I know exactly how you are feeling right now. There are loads of resourses on the internet, but my best advice would be to get a tutor if you can possibly afford the expense.

Other ground rules are as follows:

1. Have fun :)
2. Pick your guitar up every single day for at least 20 minutes...
3. Have fun :)
4. An hour a day is better. (but 1 hour every 3 days is not as good as 20 minutes every day!)
5. Enjoy your playing
6. Keep a record of your progress...
7. Aim for small steps
8. Read my blog LOL

Cheerz dude, I'm excited for ya myself :D

Happy learning

Sorry for not replying sonner I have been away!!!

Thanks for your advice guys, its very much appreciated!

I'm extremely excited, I've always wanted to learn an instrument for a while since I gave up in school and I did intend to learn the drums but then I was helping a friend look for an acoustic guiatr he was after and he was telling me about his electric guitar and I kinda got interested and the more I helped him search the more I go into it and well thanks to him I purchased a guitar!

I intend to keep a log of my progress as I'd like to see how I get on and I think it will be good to look back later and see!
I also intend to have fun altho I can see a few times where I will get frustrated if I don't get it right!

I have to start me off a Aria STG 004 see thru blue, I got lots of advice from people including my friend and I thought the smart decision was to buy one to get me started before I start buying strats altho I did fall in love with a strat I have to admit!
But once I get the hang of it etc then I will buy a strat!
I've been in the shop a few times with her and I offically pick her up with everything else this Saturday shes my xmas present off my folks so not sure if I'm gonna be allowed to have her Saturday or whether I'll have to wait for 2 weeks but either way xmas is gonna be rock n roll! hehehe

thanks guys!!

p.s I will look out for your blog Mark H and thanks again!

Yay........ Electric Guitar Saturday it is then!!! :D

But even tho I pick her up Saturday I'm not allowed her until christmas day :'(

haha my avatar was drawn by my friend who actually is the one giving me advice on guitars!
I have a slight obsession with Pegwins and I told him to draw me one on msn so he did then I said pants and he suddenly drew a pair of pants on him so i carried on with a top hat and pimp stick then asked him to draw a lady pegwin for him and he draw her and he said the male pegwin had bopped her one over the head with the stick! haha!!! But I found it funny so kept it!!!
theres a few more he did to! I'm sure you'll see them soon enough!!!

Thanks for the blog link also i will read over that!! :D
