Newbie Posts: 3 Group: Members Member #9,239 Joined: August 27, 2009	Hi I am starting to play guitar and after watching the video below I have found a problem with myself haha. When I try to play the power cords he does my 3rd finger simply wont reach the fret it needs to. If I have my 1st finger on the 7th fret my 3rd finger will only go to the 8th fret. But its strange if I hold my guitar really high up on my chest and I mean high I can do it. Has anyone else come across this problem? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ntr-RBGTeDY

Posts: 1,032 Group: Moderator Member #8,625 Joined: June 23, 2008	how do you normally hold your guitar? if you try playing with it really low to begin with then you will have problems. make sure that your thumb is behind the neck. unless you're like 8 or something then your hads should be wide enough to make a 2 fret seperation.

It's almost a natural position for your 1st and 3rd finger to sit in to be honest, so you shouldn't have to stretch at all, unless like monwo has said you're playing with the guitar around your knees?
