here something for discussion. what do your like about your amp. even cheapie amps have good qualites so what do you think.

for me i like the way it takes pedals. my amp isn't the most versitlie one going but with a pedal or two it becomes a tone machine capable of delivering any style.

Wellll... the Vox.. i like it's versatility! And i really like the "room" effect reverb, it really is a great reverb!

The Traynor, the overdrive channel is just pure valve overdrive, nice and thick but articulate, fantastic for classic rock and blues!!

The zoom, haven't played it.. for 2 years actually! But what i remember is i love the echo effect on that one, used to use it all the time!!

My Crate has several plus points for me. In no particular order:

- the right physical size for the small gap where I wanted to place an amp in my small guitar room
- really good looking
- sound is clean and pure
- more than powerful enough for me (for now)
- it's a pure valve amp
- it was really cheap!
- I mean really cheap
- It was a massive step up in sound quality over my Yamaha practice amp

On the negative side:
- poor single tone control!
- no effects - but I use PANDORA's box for that
- cheap valves - replaced for much improved tone

Can't have everything, I suppose...

If the question was "What do you hate most about your amp" my response would be "The fact that it doesn't exist" :(

Yep, desperate times meant I had to sell my Mesa.... so no more amp for me. Hopefully I can buy a better one some day :)

I didn't realize you'd lost your job bob, sorry to hear that man! Nothing going on in the way of docking/marine surveying round there? You have docks near you i would think? Here it's pretty easy to get into with no qualifications and it's reasonable money! I hear in the US you guys get paid more too!

actually i've been out of work for a while. this isn't a sea freight type of city. i don't work on those kind of docks. i work in warehouses for manufacturing which is drying up here big time. yeah its been tough to find a job and unfortunatly having a bunch of experience hasn't helped and may have hindered. alot of companies figure that once you've been the boss that you won't be a good peon any more.

Yeah i don't get that over qualified approach the companies take, it seems idiotic business sense to ignore someone who is good at the job!

Anyhow, something will come up I'm sure! Just gotta see out the rough patch! You thought about the porn industry? :P

Porn yeah thats it. since i'm approaching 50 i'm guessing there isn't much call for guys my age in that business. i'm also not a foot long so i may come up short in that job requirement :o

as for being over qualified thats a term used to say they don't want to pay you what you're worth.

well like i said i may be an inch or two shy of the minimum standard for porn guys :D that and it would be tough to go to work after my wife kicked my ass for taking a job like that. she's pretty understanding but i'm guessing this would be one time where that wouldn't apply.

Yeah guys, I know how y'all feel, I lost my job 2 months ago to. ;(

I'm still looking for work but if things keep going the way the are i'm thinking of joining the army.

I get a home, job, license, car and great health benefits and the only draw backs are that once your in you in and there is a chance I could end in Afghanistan or whatever but...whatever it takes you know?

(P.s. My amp is a vox and I love her, She has more settings that I can ever need, she sounds clean if i want it, she sings for ages and she saves all my settings every time.)

The versatility...i got my amp knowing that it could do blues, classic rock, and very nice cleans right out of the box. What i didnt know was that by tweaking a bit and spending a bit of time on my settings, you can get a great metal tone as well.

BTW, I have a classic 30. ;)
