Well I was sorting out the posts around the forum - trying to move things to where they belong. It was then I realised that there are some topics that just don't fit in anywhere. So I think it's time to sort out the various sections we currently have and maybe add some news ones. Hopefully it will make the forums alot easier to use.

Any suggestions?

Maybe a buying advice/guide section as i think that's quite a lot of what we see here!

EDITED : Removed a suggestion which on reflection was a bit pointless.

i don't think that would need a seperate section however a sticky at the top of each section (guitar, amps, fx) with that info would be a good idea. i know we kind of have that for guitars. perhaps in the form of a FAQ. another board i'm on did that kind of thing and it has cut down some on the noob ?s like i'm buying my first guitar what should i get.
and now for something completely different

Yeah I have seen something like that before. It's an interesting idea and most likely is going to be used.

Also.... how about a section to talk about your favourite bands? I noticed we don't have one of them. Would you guys use that?

i would. one board i'm on has music broken into catagories for easy access to the more popular styles (rock, metal , blues and jazz, and then a catch all for other styles).

What about a collaboraters section. Somewhere we could post like 4 bars of a drum loop, then pass it on to someone else they could add another 4 bars with a bassline/strings/organ/whatever, then keep on passing it on until we end up with a full tune. Keeping it from say 4 to 12 bars to keep the files pretty small and managable

a potentially fun idea but it can go into the Your Music section.

Immortal (well, ...so far!)
If we had a greater number of active members - or should I say when we get a greater number of active members - an events section would be useful.

a few reasons could be:

- meet fellow members at music gigs or other events
- hold meetings just for the hell of it, a summer barbeque, for instance???
- members' bands gigs
NEW - Scarlet red PRS Custom 24 (25th anniversary birds)
Black/white Yamaha Pacifica 112V
Translucent red Ibanez Artcore AFS-75T semi-acoustic
Vox Valvetronix VT30
Roland Micro Cube travel amp
Sensei called Johnny
Oriental red sunburst Yamaha APX700 electro-acoustic

I think the Promote section covers what you are talking about... to some extent

http://electricguitarforums.com/forum/3870/

You can promote your bands gigs in that section.

But as for arranging an EGF get together or something like that... maybe doesn't require a whole section. I think that the Off-Topic section would cover that?

yeah. although i like the get to gether idea (of course unless i win the lottery or something i couldn't come) it doesn't need a section, maybe a sticky at most.

some good ideas on making the forum a better place. keep em coming and don't get discouraged. think about how much use a new section would get before submitting an idea. feel free to steal ideas from other forums even if their not music related. maybe they thought of something we didn't.
and now for something completely different
