Immortal (well, ...so far!)
Greetings

So, six months after buying my first guitar I've gone and invested in a new acoustic.
Splashed the cash for 2 main reasons:

- I can take an acoustic while I'm away from home without the need for an amp,
- I thought an acoustic would help improve my skills, accuracy and finer strength...

There's a great story that goes with this as well. I'd tried a couple of "small" guitars and liked the tone and playability of the Yamaha APX500. Really fancied a black one, but I thought owning 2 black Yamahas would be a bit "samey". I then saw the old violin sunburst variant and fell for it - it was beautiful. When I got my new baby home I noticed a long crack down the neck binding near the sound hole - so took it back to the shop for advice. We decided to send it back and I expected to get a replacement. Next day I got a phone call saying that the Yamaha rep was in store and would like to know whether I'd take the store's only APX700 as a direct replacement at no extra cost. Trouble was that it was a red sunburst colour. But hey it was a much more expensive instrument and at no extra cost I'd be a bit foolish to decline. So after getting it home the colour and finish really started to grow on me. I've now decided that the red is also very beautiful and appreciate that I'm lucky to have a £570 sticker-priced guitar for just slightly more than half the cost :-D

I'll post a pic soon - just glad to have this forum back :-)

I got a Yamaha acoustic as well...i chose her over an Ovation and a Takamine. The tone of the woods were perfect, and it was a fuller sounding acoustic if that makes any sense. Congrats on the great buy. ;)

Man from the silver mountain.
After strumming my Strat for a few months i have decided to purchase a semi-acoustic guitar.

I have plumped for the APX500, i have only had it since yesterday (4/10/09). It seems a nice guitar.

Nice choice, my friend.

I really think that the APX range has a lovely sweet sound compared to others at the same price :)

another yamaha acoustic man here. I've forgotten the model number, but the shape is the same as a martin 000 acoustic. the quality and value for money was brilliant. great quality woods, sounds awesome. think i paid around £450ish, and ive played plenty of other acoustics for alot more money than that and i recon i'd have to pay about £1500 to get anything any better!aha.

but yea, good buy, it looks a nice acoustic. big up the yamaha!

Man from the silver mountain.

Been over a month since i got my semi-acoustic (see above) and in that time i love it more and more, the sound quality is superb.

Since 4/10 i ain't bothered to play my Strat...too much trouble plugging it in etc, much easier to play the Yammy.
:D

Lucky boy. Yamaha guitars are consistently good, electric or acoustic.
