Can anyone give me any tips or/and websites that can show me how to play better barre chords. I know one bar chord and i always seem to struggle with them and seem to loose the chord shape when i move up down the fretboard. I guess practice makes perfect. Strumming the easy G,C,D,E,Em,D7 chords is ok but struggle with barre's. Can anyone help please. |

Well.. there is no simple way is the answer i'm afraid... The only tips i can give you are to have a play around with index finger position, try rolling it left a little and move it up and down until you find a spot which covers all the strings well. This will then be your target area to get about the same everytime you play a barre chord! Once you have barre chords mastered a little and you get some more strength in your hand you'll be able to fret barre chords easier with your index finger in different places! And yeah... practice makes perfect, i used to spend ages trying to get a barre chord to ring out clearly, making little adjustments here and there.. it comes together eventually don't worry!

learn to relax your hand. this tends to be the biggest problem as people tend to have a death grip on the neck trying to hold down the strings. its really not that hard once you get the hang of it. keep your fingers on the board and let up with your thunb just a little when sliding chords. it takes practice and seems like torture at first but you will get it and in a couple of years it will be a breeze. |
| and now for something completely different | |
