Hi folks I currently use Fast Fret and String Wipes. (and Mr Sheen to polish my body!) What other stuff should I be using to look after my guitar??? I've heard people talk about lemon oil - what is that used for? What products do you use to care for your instrument? Cheerz Mark H |

Jim Dunlop do a cleaning product called N.o. 65 which i use for my nitro cellulose and Laquered bodies and necks it takes a bit of work to get it all buffed off but it does leave a grease free streak free finish! For oiled bodies and unfinished rosewood and ebony necks i use Lemon all with a bowling cloth or microfibre cloth, i find that works really well for getting all the crap off. For the frets i use a stiff toothbrush and gently scrub it against the frets at a slight angle to get all the sweat out (nice). For the removable metal parts i just use a dry duster which works well enough. So lemon oil is for use on unfinished wood, but NOT for use on laquered fingerboards especially! That's a big no no It keeps unfinished fingerboards in really good condition though but you only need to use a very very small ammount otherwise you'll spend hours trying to get it off and it'll make everything a bit slippery and stink of lemon!Fast fret is good, it makes things nice and slippy but i found out it dries up after a few months so it's worth using it liberaly to get your moneys worth out of it! For scraping the crap off the bottom of the string there is a product called "the swipe" which is pretty useful, although i tend to just tuck the corner of a small sheet of cotton or something underneath the string, wrap it round and hold both ends and drag it along a few times. |

i usually just wipe the guitar down with a slightly damp cloth to get the gunk off. once in a while i'll use a guitar cleaner (don't even know what brand i've got) to give it a thorough cleaning. |
| and now for something completely different | |
