i am going to Glasgow tomorrow to buy myself a new amp and recent;y found out that the amp i was originally going to get was garbage (Line6 Spider III 15 Watt) so i've decided to pay a little more and get a tube amp. http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/amplification_detail.asp?stock=07073016293028 I'm looking at this one in particular and wanted to know if it's the amp for me? If not what would you recommend? Price up to 130 GBP but not any more. I want to play everything from Korn to Eric Johnson, Symphony X, Dream theatre and Devin Townsend. Any help would be great (Especially if it's soon as i leave tomorrow at 9am GMT) Edited by Leif, Jan 17 2009, 01:23 AM.

Yup that is a good little amp that covers lots of genres.. And it's a great price too! The standard VT (the non XL version) would probably be a bit more versatile for cleaner tones as the XL is aimed at rock/metal! Unfortunately the standard is £138 and probably doesn't warrant spending the extra on to be honest! For the money I'd say snap it up! Oh another thing! Try it dude! You might not like it! Ah man don't say stuff like that! I'm already fucked up over recording confusion! Why a POD studio over a Toneport??? |

Because basically there the same thing as both are in the pod family and both share similar if not exactly the same features. The pod GX is a little cheaper than the toneport GX and the pod has the headphone jack in the front instead of the back like the toneport so that's why i'm buying the pod. Both have: Up to 24-bit/96 kHz recording 18 Guitar Amp Models 5 bass Amp Models 6 Mic Preamp Models 30 Stomp And Studio Effects Any other feature are not really important to me and i am not really going to use the software much except for maybe pod farm...we will see. |

that VOX isnt actually a tube amp, in the real sense. It has a tube preamp, but a solidstate poweramp. Its a so-called "hybrid" amp. |

one tube is better than no tubes although i thought it was the higher watt models that have the tubes but maybe i'm mistaken. |
| and now for something completely different | |

Sorry guys but your gonna have to wait for the gear review will next weekend... I've had a really bad day and wasn't able to get to the shop and they are closed on sunday. I stayed up till 3am last night trying to get some stuff done for my art and ended up sleeping in so i didn't leave for the store until 2:30... i would have gone earlier but my dam printer stopped working and wouldn't print the directions to the store...cheap Korean $&£#! I got to Glasgow for 3:30 and followed the directions my friend gave me abd i did find a guitar store...not the one i was looking for but still. I was going to ask the guy there if he had the line6 pod but before i could say the full name he was like "No! we don't stock line 6 equipment" as if he was tired of saying that and i should somehow know. whatever. I said ok and decided that i would at least look around for some other stuff before i go searching for the other store but as i was looking i noticed that i didn't recognise any of the amps and they didn't have anything i needed, They only had cheap nasty junk so i just moved on. I new the name of the street of the store i needed and according to the website for the store they are 15 minutes from the train station so i looked in every direction for the street and could find it...not one person had any idea either. It was raining like mad and there was winds so strong that car alarms kept going off and i walked past like 4 or 5 broken umbrellas (haha) but i kept looking...for 2 and half fricken hours! I didn't find it for 5:30 and since it closes then i decided to give up. (Eventually) I was so mad that i didn't get anything on my pointless waste of time trip to glasgow and because there closed on Sunday that means i can't get anything till next saturday! I was so pissed and i went and spent over 20 quid on magazines and contemplated going to a bar to get drunk. I was dripping wet straight threw and most stores closed so i just decided to go home. Sorry i can't stay true to my word and write my review, I tried. i will be buying everything online from now on as i never want to do that again, If i order it all on Monday i should maybe get it on Wednesday. i hope but if i can't do that then i'll deficiently get better directions and go2 again on Saturday. So this weekend i don't have any of the stuff i need to start playing properly and my weekend is probably gonna suck. oh and i didn't get home till almost 8 with no dinner. haha. Anyhoo, I'm done being a bitch and feel a little better that i've said everything so i'm gonna go open a couple dozed bottles of beer and get started. Peace. |
