I'm not sure if it's just because i'm using Firefox but the forum is very slow at loading. I have 5mb download speeds and don't have any problems with any other sites so i think it's a forum thing. I notice that when a topic has finished loading all the fields and images it pauses and takes around 10 seconds to let me do anything. I think it is because of the "thanks" feature that is under the user details, It just says loading... up until movement is restored. It's kinda frustrating because you can see everything there but you just can't scroll or whatever, All due to a feature that could maybe be done without?...? Just thought I'd post this and see if anyone else is experiencing this. |

It's strange, It might be due to the fact that i am using utorrent at the same time and my speeds are being affected but this is the only site that i have problems with. I visit about 6 main sites every day and no speed problems. I clear my system of temp data daily so it's not that and my firefox is up to date with only a few plugins. If it's just me i'll leave it be but it's really bad for me. |

Ok, I think i figured it out. The reason it's happening is because of an internal script error that i'm experiencing whenever certain java code is loaded into a page. I think it might be due to the new plugin that mozilla have added to firefox during the last update. I notice when i updated that a plugin called "Java quick starter" was installed so that might be what's doing it. Anyone else have this? i didn't install it and it wasn't there before i updated firefox. Thanks for the help on all this and now i'm sure that it is not a forum error. ;D |

Its part of the Java Runtime Environment, which is what executes all Java code. Usually, its installed when any major java app is installed. Just clear the Java cache, and you'll be fine. Click on Start->Control Panel->Classic View->Java->Delete Files. |

I know about clearing, I'm an IT technician. lol I'm more of a hardware wizz though, My job doesn't really require much software knowledge as i just build, repair and upgrade computer systems and they are sent on with little or no software. It's fine, the first thing i did was clear the java cache and clear all temporary files but the error persists, I'm just going to try and ignore it for now and then when i get time i'll try disabling some plugins until the error goes away. It's happened before on another system and i managed to fix it that way, I think it's just maybe a conflict or a flaw in one or more firefox plugins as it doesn't appear to be happening in IE7 i use noscript witch is a blocker that lets me allow or deny java or flash applets and sometimes it gives errors so it could be that. Thanks anyway. Edited by Leif, Jan 13 2009, 12:21 AM.
