 I have never been sure that drummers who sing too (except backing vox) is a good idea. Wondered what you lot think? My band is trying to suggest that i should sing at an up and coming gig, as the singer is incapasitated with a heavy cold. Oh no it is the decision i never wanted to have to make!! What to do??

As long as you can pull it off and your drumming isnt limited then go for it! Maybe use a wireless headset if you can get hold of one.

I play to a click, so id find it difficuilt! 3 things at once!!

Yeah.... headset would be v handy....don't want to have a kn*****ed neck if i can help it. It's more the front man element that worries me than the two things at once. I used to play to a click and can imagine that that could be quite.........errr .....interesting and challenging!! hehe

It can be done. Taylor Hawkins from Foo Fighters is a good example. HE is not normally the singer but when he is its still great. Cold Day In The Sun is the one where he drums and sings

The drummer for the band Atreyu is one of the best singers i've heard in a while for that style of music.

i think you should try it and see what happens. ;D

i agree with the Atreyu drummer, he is a very good singer and he has a loverley voice. I saw them around 3 months ago and they were a great live act, even met the guitarists after and stood talking to Travis for well over a hour, everything under the sun about guitars came out and he was probs one of the most chilled out and down to earth band members i have ever met.

There is photos of me with him lol i may even have to upload them eventually lol.

But yeah another example is the Funeral For a Friend drummer, fair enough he screams haha but still he uses a wireless headset although he looks like some demented chicken on drums while he is singing lol.
