Hi,

Im just looking for some help on a new guitar amp. I have an ibanez sz720 (http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/shop/flypage/product_id/15948) and im currently using a line 6 spider 2 30W amp. I hate that amp, think it sounds terrible.

I have around 300-350 to spend max and im not bothered if the amp is second hand. It will be used to do a few gigs a year in a hall that holds around 300-500 people.

I play mainly rock/indie music, arctic monkeys, 3 doors down, blink 182, libertines etc.

Can anyone suggest a good amp to get please? I want it to have pedals with it too.

Cheers,
Danny

P.S: I know the guitar is more of a metal/rock guitar, but i got it cheap so ill just make do with it.

a guitar is a guitar so your ibby will work fine. what do you mean by you want pedals with your amp? i would try to find a used peavey valveking or a classic 30. a vox valvetronix amp would probably work for you as well. crate makes the v series amps which can be found really cheap in the US not sure about UK. these are good all tube amps that will work for the stuff you mentioned (although i'm not familiar with a couple of the bands). try toget at least an amp with some valves (tubes for us yanks). solid state stuff like line 6 just plain sucks balls for anything more than a practice amp.
and now for something completely different

cheers for the reply. By pedals i mean foot pedals for like clean, crunch, overdrive etc, if that makes sense? i had a look at the valveking 212 but alot of people were sayin its for thrash, heavy metal etc, is that correct?

Thanks again.

the valveking is a versitile amp and will work just fine for you. what you mean is a channel selecter pedal. i believe that you can get one for the valveking. its really in how you set an amp up that determines the sound. a valveking really wouldn't do thrash metal without a pedal pushing it. as always give it a try and see how you like it.

Yikes, You might want to save up for now. Trade in the crap Spider for cash even. Sell some old stuff you don't use anymore and try to get at least 400, Trust me all of the good stuff starts to come in around 400 if you want to go big.

CHECK OUT MY BAND!

Bands we've shared the stage with: TBD! (for now...)

well thats the price (US $) for a valveking for starters. i believe that you can get a Vox valvetronix in that price range as well. although you'd have to find one on the web the Crate V series can also be found for that or less depending on the model. also of course used you can find any number of amps depending on where you look.

Ahhh.. Dollars or Pound Sterling.... that would make a considerable difference.
