hey im wondering if anyone can help me out ive been looking for a set of completely wound strings for my electric guitar as i prefer the grip even on the high strings and as far as i can tell nobody sells them. Am i the only one who prefers the thicker grippier feel of wound strings? if anyone knows a company who do a decent set id be grateful for a reply i also wonder why i cant just use the wound strings from a normal set on the g,b,and high e string? is there a reason that this would not work i dont really wana mess up the tension on my esp viper or knock the intonation off so im reluctant to try this without the thumbs up from a stranger lol. thanks for reading this its kinda a strange problem i appreciate but i have strange tastes guitar wise but i guess thats what makes playing special

To be perfectly honest, I really doubt you can get them. You could, however, put together a set of strings yourself. You'll just have to make do with extremely thick guage strings. About .015's would do, and buy the top 3 strings seperatly, wound ones. Of course, it would indeed screw up your guitar. -Mick. |

Yeah, There is a reason they aren't wound... They shouldnt be. They aren't wound because if they would they would sound deeper, Also sound like crap |

they aren't wound because you can't get that pitch with wound strings, you need extremely thin strings. Of course you could get a set of extra-thin strings, and take the thinnest wound strings and put those on the high strings, then buy the thicker strings separately. but with all that tension, you better hope you don't have a cheap truss rod. And tighter strings are difficult to bend and more prone to snapping. If you're up for the risk, go for it. Edited by Impure, Nov 21 2008, 04:30 AM.

the nut on your guitar wouldn't be slotted correctly for doing this. i've never heard anyone wanting to do this before. |
| and now for something completely different | |
