Hey there, I'm the proud owner of a Peavey XXX, and I'm really fond of my amps distortion. I think the sound for rythm guitars is excellent, I use the crunch channel mostly, but I find the Ultra channel WAY too muddy for the kind of music I play.

I have been a rythm guitar player and lead singer for years now, but now the lead guitar left the band and I have had to start taking care of guitar soloes and arrangements.
This is the thing, everytime i play live, I feel there's something missing when I try to do a solo or some octaves or just show off, there seems to be some lack of gain or tone... My brother told me to start using the ultra channel for soloing and gave me a GV-2.
It all sounds like the right thing to do, but, I don't know what to do or how to do it.

I truly need your help, I want my rithm guitars to sound like bad religion or no use for a name, but I also need some strong solo/octaves/arpegio sounds.

Thanks for your help!!!

i would use the GV-2 as an overdrive on the channel you use for rthym. don't go nuts with the distortion knob on the pedal. put the level at the half way positon. then put the distortion at the lowest setting and then add more until you get the sound you want. set the tone controls to taste. this way all you have to do is kick the pedal on for solos or if you need more umph.
and now for something completely different

if you can get a sound out of it you like then sure. experiment with it maybe turn the gain down etc and see what you can come up with. generally i wouldn't tell anyone to never use something.
