Hi, so yeah i need your advice. Im a rythm guitar player, and bassist. Im in a band. Although to call it a band would be a joke. So far we've had two lineups. and one proper practice for each line up. Our first line up went like this: Rythm - Me - lives 20 minutes away from town centre on bus Lead - Nick (Lives 1 hour from town centre on bus, in the same direction as me) Drums - Rich (Lives 1.30 away on a train and bus the other way) As you would expect, the main reason that we split, was cause we lived o far away. None of wanted to commit to a 3 peice, and we have such varied tastes. Everyone split, but i stayed cause i still wanted to play, we played The second line up went like this: Rythm - Me Lead - Nick Drums - Random guy. Lives an hour from nick on the same bus route nick uses. Bass - Random guys supposedly suicidal, self harming freind. Im getting f***d off in being in a band were im the only one that wants to practice. So im thinking of leaving because im fed up. I wanna commit my time to a band that works. What do you think i should do? I wanna do rock or metal, but i don't know where too find a new band or musicians to create a band. Edited by roast, Sep 18 2008, 08:29 PM.

Alright, what exactly are you doing right now? Are you in school/work/college? Your possibilitys vary. If your in school, wait until after school if you cant find any musicians where you live. In college, you can meet dozens of good musicians. Theres a chance that there is more musicians near where you live, how about posting in our "Musician Ad's" in the "Classifieds" section. Maybe that will draw attention. Good luck with your hunt, keep this thread updated. Btw, watch the language. ![]() -Mick. |

getting a band together is probably the most frustrating thing you'll encounter after you've learned enough guitar to get you into trouble. i've got tons of stories that will make you think twice about wanting to be in a band. your best bet is to form the band yourself (be in charge more or less) and set down some rules at auditions 1- practice days (how many, how long) 2- when practicing its just the band not friends, girlfriends etc (this is a tough one but believe me its for the better. after you've gotten your set list down then you can invite some people to hear you play) 3- booze etc after rehearsal not before or during its tough to find like minded people who can work together as a team. be specific on what you want when advertising for people. oh and everyone thinks they are great (but often suck) so be patient. |
| and now for something completely different | |
