Okay 3 people in the last day or so have received warning because of bumping threads from OVER A YEAR AGO.....

I'm setting the limit of a thread bump of being 2 months... anything older you will be warned!... ***UNLESS*** It's a Whats your Fav. Kind of thing.

Just let it be known that you must be aware of the date.

Thanks
David

although i agree for the most part some threads may still be valid "whats you r favoite---" etc. i've mentioned to BULLET about stickying some of those types of threads. now that a thread that is a year old or more is still on the first page of a section is kinda sad and not the norm. so don't discourage new menber by jumping on them for not reading a date (at least for now. )
and now for something completely different

I did it a few times...didn't know it was a big deal at the time.

Most forums just set any topic that doesn't have activity to lock or close after a certain amount of time has passed so i figured that because it was there then i could post in it.

I'm new and didn't see many new posts that really interested me that much, I found some good old ones though and so i posted.

I'll not do it again if it's so bad.

its not that bad depending on the thread. if its a general type ? then no problem. if its like a guy asking how to fix something on his guitar and its a year old then leave it be. just check the dates and see if the topic is still relevant. it is an issue that needs a little more work here as sometimes people have been yelled at for topics that were old but still relevant.

Yeah, It's different when it's a "whats your favorite" thread kind of thing.

But if it's titled 'my start's very important widget is broken, how do I fix it?'

then by putting an answer a year later it's still helpfull to new people to look at. It obvisouly probably isn't going to help the OP after that amount of time but it's still an ongoing help for everyone else, surely?

all I mean is there might be new members join at any time who have a very important widget broken on their strat and by someone giving an answer to the post regardless of how old it is it will help the new person who has the same problem.

but then again, I suppose you could say that for that sort of post , the 'how do I' type, then a sticky would be best

and you wouldn't want the front page filled with posts from 2007 because it would give a view of the forum being inactive or at least not up to date.

So I've given a question, answered it and not been very helpful really, lol, sorry
