Picks For Bass??

I use plecs when playing bass, but I guess that is because I am so much more used to them. It really depends on the style you play, if your going to be playing soft or slow music or walking basslines etc, then finger picking is for you. But for rock or metal, you would really need a pick

But for rock or metal, you would really need a pick not really. the bassists in all three of my bands are all pretty competent with fingers. they can play most things that guitarists can play with picks, with fingers. ever tried the master of puppets intro on bass? one my my friends can do that with fingers. although, as a guitarist, i would have to say that i can only play very slowly with fingers on bass. fingering, rather than picking, also gives much better tone, in my opinion.

I use both, hell, what about hybrid picking with them

It's just what bassist do. unless you've been playing with a Pick for a long time, I would say use fingers. I play guitar, but when I pick up a bass, I use my fingers and play like Blister In The Sun or something.
