Hi there. I own an Epiphone SG Special, and i was wondering about "modifiying" it by modifiying i was thinking fitting some new pickups and a pickguard. Does anyone know of any pickguards (SG style) that dont have to be screwed in? If not, how easy will it be to drill some holes in my guitar lol. The second thing is fitting new humbuckers. Are their any specific Gibson ones for SG's? Im also conscious that a Gibson SG has 2 tone & 2 volume knobs, but my guitar only has 1 tone and 1 volume. is this going to be a problem? Thanks <_< |

im pretty sure all pickguards have to be screwed in, but it wouldnt be that hard to do it. just place the pickguard over the guitar, mark the holes, and drill them. as for the pickups, im pretty sure any humbuckers will fit any guitar (someone correct me if i'm wrong) the tone and volume knobs wont be a problem. if it has 2, it basically means it gives individual control of each pickup. with just one of each, it just means you dont get as much variety in tone, and the volume isnt as adjustable between pickups. |

If you're intending to fit an additional volume and tone pot, you'll need to check that there's enough space in the control cavity, otherwise it's gonna be an annoying routing job for you. Any humbucker pickups will fit however |

Just reading about P 90s, and they seem to be quite good. Would they fit where the humbuckers are? |

A P90 type pickup in a Humbucker size will fit. Pretty much any Humbucker will fit, with a few exceptions, so dont worry about that. Pickup changing is an easy mod, if you're handy with a soldering Iron, as It dosent change the aesthetics of the instrument. As for fitting a Bigsby, be prepared to do a little work. Dont attempt it if you dont have any clue what your doing....unless of course, you dont mind if you mess up. |

How easy do you think it would be to fit the scratchplate and another tone and volume knob? |

If the back plate on your guitar is about the same size as on my old guitar. Then your going to have to route out the cavity to accept the extra tone and vol. knob. As for the pick guard, that's no big deal, just make sure you have the pick guard right were you need it, before you start drilling!!!! |
