do you use them and which ones do you use? I have always used schallers and currently have them fitted to my P bass and my old strat, but I've gone and bought a set of Dunlop ones as they are supposed to be rated. I bought some more strap buttons from axesrus the other week on the understanding they were for Fender straplocks - the ones on my P were supplied with the bass but when I put the buttons on, the schaller lock doesn't grip it properly and falls off. I've ordered some new buttons from Allparts - I want to use the one strap with different guitars - which have just turned up, but they look the same as the "fender" ones I got from axesrus. Does anybody know if there's any difference? The ones I have which I assumed were fender's own are all stamped up with the schaller patents. |

I have been looking into getting some but I have never got around to it. I am afraid that it will ruin my Gibson because my friend has some and when he replaced his strap pegs, the screws made the whole in the wood bigger and they just spin helplessly in the guitar now |

Buy Two Bottles of Grolsh Beer. What you do with the contents is entirely up to you. You will notice that there is a Rubber Washer that is on the Cap of the Bottle? Remove said Washer. Place your strap on your Guitar. Put the washer on top. Voila!! Strap Locked!!

Time tested method eh? My band's rhythm guitarist broke a screwdriver in each strap button hole, put the strap on and wrapped most of the surrounding area in duct tape Rock 'n roll! |

Bullet - with all respect to your mate, it doesn't sound like he's done a proper job on that. With a Dunlop set, you need to drill the hole out with a small (about 2.7/2.8mm) drill bit to a specific depth to match the screws that they supply. The JD screws are wider and longer than the standard Gibson screws and they have a smaller head to fit in the button. Mine is shortly to have Dunlop buttons on, but fitted by a pro as opposed to being fitted by a goon like me! Rob - yeah, the Grolsch bottle washer was my first choice, but mrs johnbrigade said I should do it properly!! I can safely say there's going to be no tape involved here!! Incidentally, the Schaller buttons sold by allparts do indeed appear to be proper pukka Schaller strap buttons and the locks fit on them securely and they're are only £2.50 a pair or thereabouts. |
