Right I'm sick of the crappy quality I get from plugging my amp straight into the computer through a crappy interface so I'm gonna splash out on an effects processor.
I want opinions, Behringer V-Amp (rack version) or the lowest-end POD.
I do mainly metal and clean/acoustic stuff

Either of those would be good. I am a fan of the Vamp, but I wonder whether it will be quite hard enough....so you might need to add an extra OD Pedal?

I use a Micro Cube as my interface and have been very happy with the results that it has given me.....But I don't play the same Styles as you so possibly it wouldn't work too well......Though I am told by many that the Rectifier Model is actually Very Good Indeed.......I just don't ever use it myself.

Recording with your amp is the best thing you can do.

Use your interface, get a Shure SM57 or similar and mic your amp, you don't need effects pedals.

Yes....In an ideal world that is the best way of going about things I suppose, but unfortunately.....the world is far from ideal!!!

I can't drag everything down and then set up in that manner here....space just doesn't permit it. So as I am now learning about the strange and wonderful world of recording using the Mac and Garageband I just wanted the easiest and most simple way of getting the results I wanted. I have done it before when using a PC and at that time I got some pretty credible results using a Vox Tonelab.

Prior to THAT...... I was a die hard Stand alone user and used a Yamaha

Those that know me would tell you that I am a terrible Technophob and it took me forever to get into what this Yamaha could do. Strangely......whether it's because I forced myself or whatnot I can't say....but I find Garageband very easy to use and incredibly intuitive!!!!! Doesn't make sense really does it? <_<

A friend gets some of the BEST results I have heard using a Boss Unit. I think it's a 12 Track, though I cannot say hand on heart. He does just about everything using that and then does the final mix down on his PC.

Mind You....I am pretty much a Beginner at all this so I am still finding my way. I'm enjoying it far more now that I have the Mac because the seemingly interminable Crashes and Freezes with the Windoze machine just became Too Frustrating. ;)

I will be able to give some good advise on these types of threads when I finally start college. Most of the course is all about recording usually traditional and digital methods.
