Will you be needing to Mic up Amps, Drums etc.......or really just for Vocals?

There are some quite reasonable Powered Systems out there for not huge amounts of money, but I have in the past found that friends have done better by buying Secondhand Gear. It is readily available from most Good Stores.......

Did You Know?

One of the most Frequently Changed pieces of Kit is a PA System (or parts thereof)??? I hadn't thought much about it, I'll be honest, but talking to a few friends who own Stores they are all saying that it is by far the most reguklarly Up Graded Piece of Kit!!!!

OK....Thanks for that....Now we have something to work with. ;)

First Off.......You would benefit from having a Decent PowerAmp that has on board Mixing Facilities. BUT....If that proves too much financially......Behringer do some very good Cheap....(.or is that "Economically Priced"? ) Mixers.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BEHRINGER-Xenyx-1204...1QQcmdZViewItem

Ebay can throw up some pretty nice tackle......I have just been looking at a Peavey Powered 500 Watt System....complete with all Mixing etc etc for £375!!!!!! Now that seems pretty darn good to me especially as it included a 12 Input Mixer!!!!!

I'll do some asking around tomorrow and see what sort of stuff the Guys in Shops have Second Hand just to get a feel for prices.....Report Back when I have answers. B)

OK....I spoke to a couple of Friends and they are all saying much the same thing really.
For a Decent 500 Watt PA your best bet is to keep an eye on Ebay. There are Complete Systems out there that are NOT going to cost fortunes. One of my friends had just been offered a 750 Watt Fender PA System which was rather nice, but the Guy was desperate for Cash that day and ended up going to Cash Converters with it!!!
So THERE'S somewhere else to keep an eye on.

Their feeling was that as you are on a limited Budget you would definitely be better off relying on places such as Local Papers, Cards in Music Shops, Cash Converters and of course Ebay.

We did a comparison pricing exercise as to whast was the best price that they could put something suitable together, Using New Components....a 500 Watt system seemed to be around the £500 mark. That was a Powered Mixer Board (12 Channel) Speakers, Stands, 3 Monitors all Cables and chucking in 3 Mics and stands to get you started.

OR......Same Rig but using Used Components would run at about £350/£400 but the quality of the individual items would be far higher.

Another suggestion which came up and was actually a pretty good one when I stopped and thought about it.....was.......Keep your eyes open for a Mobile Disco that is giving up!
They knew of One Guy who is doing just that and he has a superb Rig which is Powered by Crown and Quad Amps, It's Rated at about 2000 Watts and has everything you'd need....plus a whole load of stuff you don't need but can very easily sell to recoupe some of the outlay...... This Rig is on the Market for £650!!!! Now for what's there......That is damn Cheap!!!!!

Then all you need is the Price of a Van!!

Aha!!!!!!

NOW you're talking!!!

I LOVE Carlsboro PA Gear. Their original Old Guitar Amps were OK Too......But their PAs have been consistantly brilliant from day one!!!!!

Superb Choice Sir!!! And a Good Deal as well!!!! ;)

Will a PA system give a more full guitar sound than just having the amp?

In some instances it will. Where Greater Volume can be used at Gigs I always had the Cabs Miked and then bled into the mix just to add a dynamic here and there.

It also depends on how many Guitarists you have in the Band. Where there are 2 I always try and get Mics in front (Or Behind) Cabs just to Bolster the Out Front Sound.
