Hi everyone, been a while since my last post; hope you're all well. Anyhoo.... I am plain sick fed up of playing my entry level Fender acoustic. I have said that it's playable and good for the price but recently i helped a friend pick out an acoustic. As he had never played before i played the guitars for him and told him what i thought (whilst encouraging him to get a feel for them too!). It was amazing, i got better instantly! No fuzz, no buzz, it was crazy. I used to tell myself that it was just because i suck, and i do! But i suck slightly less on better guitars... so... i want a new acoustic. Played an "Art and Lutherie" acoustic and for the price it was really lovely. I'm looking for a complete range of simliar types of acoustics to have an experiment with to try and find one that is really good for me. Price range sub £300. Cheers! Peace and love Jo. |

Hi Jo, Art and Lutherie are VERY Nice and come from the same stable as Kort etc I gather? I played a STUNNING 000 sized acoustic recently that a Mate sells from his Shop down in Brighton. Trouble is....I can't remember the Brand Name.....But I'll get that and pop it on here. It was 225 quid from what I recall and was Gorgeous.

Sorry about the delay Jo. OK......225 quid!!!! Handmade 000M style by Steve Fairclough. Branded as.......wait for it......"Fairclough" I had a very early 70's 00028 Martin a few years ago. I just cannot believe the quality and Sound of these Faircloughs!!!! They are on a par with Sigma etc and just look at the price! I have one on its way to me now. Available from Graham Cook at "Badlands Guitars Limited" in Brighton. He does a Great Courier Service ANYWHERE in the UK fo 18 quid. www.badlandsguitars,co,uk should find him.

Cheers Rob! On my way to check out their site. I think I might have bought something from them ages ago, maybe off of ebay, not sure though. It might have been a badlands music company... I'll mention you if i go to buy, maybe that'll earn you a nice discount on your next purchase thanks again dude, really can't be assed playing this crap fender anymore!! Peace and love Jo |

art and lutherie are part of the group that is Godin, Simon and Patrick, Seagull and of course A&L - there's probably someone else in the group and I'm guessing they're all made in Canada as their wbesite gives you options to enter in French and English. I've got a Simon and Patrick - it's alright. Can't really say anymore about it than that. It sounds nice, but the BBand preamp isn't very advanced (although they do appear to be better in the newer versions), but i think mine was a bit of a friday afternoon guitar in that it wasn't put together terribly well. if you want a sub 200 quid guitar, i rate crafter's very high on the list. I spent £115 a couple of years ago for a guitar i could leave in the front room and just use it for banging about on. absolutely bloody brilliant guitar for the money and if you want a cheap cheap one, i'd plump for one of them. Although I am interested in these fairclough guitars now. |

Hey man, don't know how you've got on, but I found it worth saving a little more and investing in a slightly higher spec acoustic - it's a little less painful in the long run! I umm'd and rrrr'd about my purchase for ages, trying several different makes and models and eventually allowed myself my Taylor 210 - yes, it cost more than I intended but I fell in love... Mind, that was pre-credit crunch (damn you!) |
