I am not entirely certain that I remember this story 100% correctly? But I believe an acquaintance of mine acquired an Original Mellotron in a remarkably similar method? I "think" it was deemed too large for his house, but as I say, I am not 100% certain on that.

I saw a house being cleared and there was this Builder coming out with an AC30 in his arms......He was about to literally CHUCK it in the skip when I stopped him. It cost me £5 in 1976.
