I've always wanted to start a band the prob is i haven't got anyone around to start it with. I'm a great singer and i'm awesome on the guitar so i figured that i would be lead vocal and guitar of the band. Almost nobody that i know plays guitar, bass, drums, or any other worthwhile instruments. Now i go to middle school which is the best time to start a band (I think) because there are lots of kids that have talent and are going for that image. If anyone could give me some starters or something that would be appreciated. THANKS!!! |

Well basically, you have 2 options. Do what I did and put posters up around your school, you will be amazed at the response! And, if that doesn't work, looks like your moving to somewhere where people are, or starting a 1 man band! |

lol or u can do what i am doing - i am the only one in the band that can play an instrument (guitar & piano), so im going to tab out the instrument part, drummer is going to set out the drums, and singer is doing the vocals - then we just teach the song to the rest of the band, even thou they dont know a single note. The easiest way is to do tabs, for the music illiterate members to play. e.g., [E]1-0-0-0-1-7-5-1-0-0-0-1 where [E] is the tuning of the string, and 1 is the first fret, 0 is open, ect. (check out www.azchords.com theyve got some great tabs) |

Im in the same position as you. I did find the people who play the instruments but none of them were serious and we split before we could get anywhere. Good luck and gimme a shout if you make a break through |

Where about are you mate? My band have only just started and the problem I have is that im not too bad (Lead) and the Bassist is good but the drummer and rythm guitarist are dreadful... You would be best advertising and finding people that can play, or teaching some friends that would be willing, thats what we're doing

word from the wise if you're drummer sucks then it doesn't matter how good the rest are you won't sound good. just a thought get a new drummer and 2nd guitar. its always adviseable to find people that are about equal calibre playing wise. PLEASE CHECK TO SEE HOW OLD A POST IS. the mods get a little upset at times when people bring up old posts. this guy may not have been here for a year now so its don't be suprised if he doesn't answer .
